Sabrina Nuccio

Sabrina
Sabrina received her BSc in Biotechnology and her MSci in Industrial Biotechnology from the University of Palermo. She did an experience of one year for her master thesis in a protein engineering laboratory in Basel under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Georg Lipps. The main goal of her thesis was to optimize a purification method for Sortase F and develop a new enzymatic assay to screen for its molecular inhibitors. After her MSci, she joined the NCCR RNA & Disease Predoc program in Switzerland where she contributed to two different projects at the University of Bern and at ETH Zürich. The latter under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jacob Corn gave her the chance to learn more about CRISPR genome editing, which has been relevant to her PhD project. Sabrina project aims at developing novel chemical biology tools for selective interference with epigenetic markers at specific genomic location using CRISPR-Cas9 techologies and novel photo-reactive ligands developed in the Di Antonio group.

Sabrina’s main interest is scientific divulgation, this is why she writes for a blog with others friends trying to make accessible to everyone the key elements of biotechnology.
