Summary
Additive Manufacture (AM) reduces material waste in complex parts but ensuring the consistency and quality of the end-product is challenging. A method is proposed for producing a near net shape part by combining Wire Arc Additive Manufacture with the hot forging process. By optimising this process, the porosity and defects within the AM part will be reduced and material properties improved.
