Chemistry 2 - Biochemistry (2023-): This module will equip you with the background knowledge and understanding of chemical and biochemical processes and electrochemistry concepts and terminology, giving you the confidence to research, analyse and understand information for a broad range of industrially relevant chemical, biochemical and electrochemical processes.

Biochemical Sensors - CENG60020 (2022-): This module provides participants with in-depth knowledge of materials, components, sensing technologies, microfabricaton methods to innovate in the design of analytical devices. This fundamental knowledge can be applied to the development and production of industrial sensing technologies. The unmet technological needs in analytical device development are also discussed.

Advanced Bioprocess Engineering - CENG97027 (2019-): This course is offered as an option in the 3rd and 4th years of the undergraduate programme, as well as the MSc programme. Its primary aim is to review the relevant fundamentals of biochemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology, coupled with process engineering principles to the design and operation of fermentation reactors which are widely used in the pharmaceutical, food, brewing and waste treatment industries. Aspects of mass transfer, heat transfer, mixing and rheology with biochemical and biological constraints will be presented.

Applied Spectroscopy - CENG97072 (2021-2022): This module teaches students fundamentals and applications of Applied Spectroscopy. This knowledge will equip students with necessary understanding of a range of analytical techniques needed for addressing challenges being faced by industry. Spectroscopic methods such as FTIR, Raman and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy, optical sensors, spectroscopic imaging, NMR, Mass spectrometry, XPS. Fundamental topics include the theory of spectra and their interpretation while applications include innovative approaches in industries. This module features example problems solved in class.

Advanced Chemical Engineering Design Practice Final Year Design - CENG97006 (2019-2021): The Design Project has the objective of giving students experience of advanced design practice by carrying out a complex design task in as realistic a way as possible. The desired learning outcomes include producing a comprehensive design in response to an open-ended brief, while working in a large team, under realistic time pressure and on the basis of limited information.

Hydrogel-Based Optical Sensors (2015): The Harvard-MIT Summer Institute at MGH: Photonic hydrogels have emerged as rapid, reusable, and quantitative biosensors for application in point-of-care diagnostics. The advantages of photonic hydrogel sensors over conventional sensors is that they have label-free, continuous, reversible sensing capability that can be integrated with personalized medicine technologies.

Chemical Engineering (Biotechnology) CET I (Fall 2014): This course gives students an introduction to bioscience and discusses example applications of biotechnology. It then focuses on the understanding and modelling of microbial and enzymatic reaction processes.

Entrepreneurship ETECH (Spring 2014): ETECH Projects are run by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL), Judge Business School to assess the commercial viability of novel technologies coming out of the departments of the University of Cambridge and local companies. ‘ETECH Projects’ are performed by teams of students from the University of Cambridge.

Programming CET I (Spring 2013): This unit aims to familiarise students with a spreadsheet package (Microsoft Excel), a flowsheeting package (UniSim) and a mathematics package (Mathematica).
