Coronavirus update - 4 March 2020
As the spread of COVID-19 continues to dominate the news, we are all naturally concerned for ourselves, our colleagues and the College.
In the coming weeks, we will be working hard to share the information you need to help alleviate your worries and to ensure that we can keep the College running effectively in what could be a rapidly changing external environment. The government has just released their action plan which offers a phased approach currently focused on containment.
We had a discussion with the Heads of Department on Monday night about our plans and will keep working with them to mitigate the impact of the disease on us all. We continue to adhere to government advice, including on travel. We look to you all to help cover functions and support one another through any disruption.
We will continue to communicate with you regularly and you will find insights on the disease from our own research teams on our website along with relevant information to help guide personal and departmental decisions. From what we know today, the spread of the disease in the UK may persist over multiple weeks or even a couple of months. We are thinking ahead to our potential needs and mitigations in the case of a prolonged period of disruption.
While we will not get everything right the first time, by working together and helping one another we will get through this with strength and effectiveness.
