The objectives of the Library Services projects are to look at current processes within the Library and find opportunities to make them quicker, more intuitive and simpler to use. The ultimate aim is to give staff and students better access to information and to improve the experience for all library users. Library Services will achieve this through a variety of different projects, using techniques and skills developed through the Operational Excellence programme. Library Services projects include:

  • Improving the document delivery service by reducing waiting time and increasing access 
  • Working with academic departments to improve the provision of reading list material
  • Improving the procedure for requesting new books and streamlining the acquisition process
  • Streamlining procedures for the management of subscriptions and renewals to research journals
  • Locating missing books and carrying out repairs
