In March 2018 Aramco and Imperial signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will bring new investment to targeting frontier technologies and developments in chemical engineering, chemistry, petroleum engineering and geosciences, advanced materials, mechanical engineering and data science.

Imperial is a world-leader in advanced materials research and in developing new sustainable energy technologies.

The MoU was signed by President Alice Gast and Aramco's president and CEO Amin Nasser at the UK-Saudi CEO Forum at Mansion House, alongside business and political leaders from both countries.

Speaking at the event, Amin Nasser, President and CEO of Saudi Aramco, said: "We recognise the important role that academic centres of excellence such as Imperial College play in pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.  Collaboration with such top institutions is therefore essential for our pursuit of leadership in technology and innovation.

Mr Nasser added: "We are confident that this new agreement with Imperial College will allow us to work together to bring about new solutions for both today's and future challenges."
