The purpose of project change is to identify, assess and control any potential and approved change to the project.

Change is inevitable during the life of a project, and every project needs a systematic approach to the identification, assessment and control of issues that may result in change. As changes may arise from project team members, stakeholder requests, complaints or a wide range of other factors a common approach to change control is needed. The aim of change control is not to prevent change but to ensure that every change is approved by the relevant authority before it takes place.

Imperial uses change control forms for change inside approved budget and for change outside of the approved budget.

The Project Manager must ensure that the relevant form is completed, signed/approved and distributed in accordance with the requirements of the relevant section.
