Infrastructure and Shared Services
I joined Imperial at the Start of December 2020 as the Director of Digital Infrastructure.

I have 25 years’ experience working in Technology working for EDS, HP, Fujitsu delivering solutions to customers, and then I joined the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
I started my career as Novell Network Admin, moving on to VME Mainframe support then Active Directory/LDAP Design and build to Technical Lead and Solution Owner roles leading on technology and organisational transformation across public and private sector organisations such as the DWP, Department of Communities & Local Government, Planning Inspectorate, Centrica, RBS, PZ Cussons and Selecta.
My last role was Head of Hybrid Cloud at DWP where I was responsible for bringing together teams from four different parts of the organisation to remove silos and create a single function responsible for the Architecture, Design, Build and operations of On Premise (Crown Hosting) and Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, VMware Cloud on AWS) along with shared services such as Identity and Access, Connectivity, monitoring and CI/CD pipeline across all platforms to allow our Product Development Units to easily consume enabling them to focus on building citizen-facing services.
On a personal level, I have a daughter who makes me proud every day.
I have been a volunteer for Blood Cancer UK for 24 years, starting as a member of my local branch after going into remission from Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia, later becoming a Regional Chair then in November 2017 becoming a Trustee overseeing the Public Fundraising portfolio, Regional relationships and supporting on Technology and Transformation. The opportunity to link up my volunteer work at Blood Cancer UK, where I have input into the research grants, with my role at Imperial, who are at the forefront of Blood Cancer research and have strong links with the charity, was a key driver in my desire to join Imperial.
I also enjoy cycling and have completed several coast-to-coast rides, Ride London and London to Paris fundraising for Blood Cancer UK and train in Krav Maga which is a defensive martial art.
Objectives for Infrastructure and Shared Services
- Shared services provide support for four main functional areas. This includes Data, Integration, Cloud, and Identity and Trust. This area operates in conjunction with Infrastructure Technology and is commonly known as “Infrastructure and Shared Services”.
- The purpose of the shared services function is to provide subject matter experts or specialists who understand each domain and its associated technologies intimately. The specialists work across all functional areas and product lines to enable, configure, and evolve these technologies in alignment with the technology office.
- Infrastructure Technology aligns with shared services to provide the enabling platforms and technology which underpin all College systems and services.
- This includes data centre provision and management, digital workplace for end user services, networks including wired and wireless services, as well as ensuring security for users consuming College services. Infrastructure technology also provide and manage tooling for management, monitoring, provisioning, and discovery across all services.
