How to access Power BI

To access Power BI sign into Office 365, click the Office 365 app launcher and then the Power BI app. If the Power BI app is not visible, click "All apps".

Using Power BI

Power BI is a Self-Service Business Intelligence tool. It is a component of Microsoft Office 365 and is available to all Imperial College London staff. 

Power BI allows you to:

  • Explore, analyse and transform data
  • Build interactive data visualisations
  • Collaboratively build, and share, dashboards and interactive reports
  • Connect to data from a wide range of data sources; including Excel spreadsheets, Databases and Web APIs.

Power BI is available as part of the College’s Office 365 package.

Training events

As part of the general release of Power BI a number of Training Sessions will be conducted.

Introduction to Power BI

This session will introduce Power BI and is of interest to people with no to little experience of the application.

This session provides an opportunity for staff to meet the members of Information Insight and ask them questions about Power BI. All staff are welcome, from novices to expert users.

This full day session offers more advanced PowerBI training.

  • Connecting to data
  • Transforming data
  • Creating Visualisations
  • Sharing Reports and Visualisations

This session will be of interest to anyone who thinks they would like to start using Power BI to conduct their own analyses. Previous experience is not necessary.
