Install Office 365
To download Microsoft Office 365 and for further information visit the Office 365 website.
You will need to use your College login (firstname.lastname@example.org) and password.
Staff and students can install the Office 365 suite on up to five compatible, personally-owned PCs and Macs, plus five tablets, including iPad, and also up to five mobile phone devices. You will need to login and be connected to the internet at least once a month to keep your subscriptions active.
Please note that all College owned PCs and Macs, when registered with ICT, will soon have the latest version of Office installed. This includes the following Microsoft applications; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. So, there’s no need to install Office software on College PC desktops and laptops. Trying to do so risks causing problems to other systems.
Older versions of Office, such as Office 2010 and Office 2007, may work with Office 365, but with reduced functionality. If you’re using an older version, contact the ICT Service Desk.
Do you use Visio and/or Project Office apps?
If you currently have a subscription for Visio and/or Project, which are additional apps available with Office 365, then as your Office suite is upgraded your licenses will also be moved to the latest version. This will be beneficial to you as you will be able to access the latest versions of Project or Visio, and access the apps on up to 5 devices, rather than having to purchase a license for each device.
Can I still access Office 365 when I leave Imperial?
If you are joining another workplace where Office 365 is used then you will be able to reactivate your software using the login details of your new workplace.
Files on your OneDrive for Business that are personal to you should be copied to or stored on suitable media so that you can retain access. Please ensure that you hand over any work files to your supervisor or manager so that the work of the college is not disrupted. If you require advice then please contact the ICT Service Desk or your local Faculty Support Team for assistance.
When you complete your studies you will receive an advance email notifying when your account will be deactivated, at which point you will no longer be able to use software or access data in your OneDrive for Business. Important files can be copied to or stored on suitable media in advance to retain access. If you are returning to College as a student or member of staff and require an extension, please contact the ICT Service Desk as soon as possible.
When you complete your studies, any copies of Office that you have installed and activated on personal devices through your College account will have reduced functionality. You will still be able to read and print documents, but you won’t be able to edit or create new documents or files until you activate your office software with a new subscription either through a work account or personal account.
