File recovery and backup
We will not automatically back up hosted systems or data. The system owner must request backups, typically copied to tape and we charge for this service - the fee is dependent on size, frequency and retention. Find out more about file storage, additional options and associated costs by reading Appendix B Charges for ICT Services and Resources in the ICT service level agreement wiki.
Imperial College London allocates personal file space on the network, called a Home directory or H: drive, to all staff and students. H: drives are backed up daily, so if you delete a file or folder and want it back, you can check for previously saved versions of the folder and restore the file yourself.
Files saved to College PC desktops or laptop local drives are not backed up.
