As a member of staff, you can add a TurnitinUK assignment to your Blackboard course. Therefore, there is no need to request Turnitin access.

The advantage of using Turnitin via Blackboard is that your students can submit assignments through Blackboard to Turnitin directly and grades from Turnitin are automatically sent back to the Blackboard Grade Centre.

How does it work?

  • You create a TurnitinUK Assignment directly in Blackboard (for instructions on set up see Set up an assignment).
  • The students enrolled on your Blackboard course submit to TurnitinUK assignment themselves.
  • All instructors and teaching assistants on the Blackboard course can view and grade submissions.

A TurnitinUK account will be created for you based on your Imperial email address when you access Turnitin via Blackboard Learn for the first time. You will receive an email notifying you of the creation of your Turnitin user profile and instructions for accessing TurnitinUK Online if you choose to do so at a later date.

Blackboard passes only your name and Imperial email address to TurnitinUK for the account creation stage. All other information from Blackboard, such as your College username and password, remain confidential and are not shared with TurnitinUK.
