Membership and borrowing
NHS Trust staff
Joining the Library
The Library provides services to a number of NHS Trusts. Staff from these Trusts may join with full or local membership, depending on eligibility.
Students on placement for more than 4 weeks in those Trusts may also be eligible to join, just ask your NHS support librarian.
Staff with honorary contracts at Imperial will be registered as Imperial College London staff.
NHS Trust members who are eligible may register at the campus library of your choice. This will be your home campus library.
Complete the online library membership application form. After submitting the form please visit your home library and show your NHS Trust ID card. Proof of current status (NHS contract, letter of appointment) may also be required. We will then give you a username and password for access to our computers.
At some of our libraries you need an Imperial College London ID/swipe card - ask for details when registering.
Your library card allows you to borrow 20 items at one time from medical campus libraries and the Central Library. This allowance includes up to 4 core text (24 hour) loans.
When you have selected the items you wish to borrow take them to the desk or use one of our self-service machines.
All items are issued for 3 weeks and will be automatically renewed for up to 6 months, before they must be returned for re-issue.
If an item you have is requested by someone else you will need to return it by the latest due date.
We only charge fines for the late return of items that have been requested by another reader.
You can borrow and return books at any of our libraries.
