Research Income by Year

This graph shows the College’s total research grants and contracts income by source between 2011-12 and 2015-16. The biggest percentage increases between 2011-12 and 2015-16 have come in research income from “EU government bodies” (+47%),  "UK industry" (+38%), and “EU and Overseas industry” (33%). "UK charities" decreased over the same period (-6%) as did "UK government incl. health authorities" (-1%).

Source of Research Grants and Contracts Income

This graph shows the proportion of the College’s research grants and contracts income from each source in 2011-12 and 2015-16. In 2015-16, “UK charities” (17.8%) and "Research councils" (31.9%) accounted for nearly half of the College’s research income, but this was lower than that of 2011-12 (21.2% and 32.6% respectively). Research income from "EU government bodies" (12.1%), "UK industry" (7.5%) and "EU and overseas industry" (7.8%) have also shown an increase compared to 2011-12.
