Imperial College Union membership

After you leave Imperial you can still remain part of the Union by becoming a life member. For a life membership fee of £40 you will be able to use the Union and attend events with up to two guests, only paying the special student rate. As a life member you can continue to meet your friends at the campus bars in South Kensington, at Silwood and at Charing Cross. You can join a club or society and you will be welcome at sporting events and other club and society events such as musical productions or film showings as well as major yearly events such as the International Night and the Summer Ball.

Over the summer, the Accommodation Office is offering alumni a discounted rate on rooms around the South Kensington Campus. The rates are all per room, per night and include VAT and access to the Ethos sport centre.

Alumni must quote "Alumni special summer accommodation" and provide their alumni number at the time of booking to qualify for the special rates. Alumni discount can be only applied for 1 room per booking.

Year round accommodation on Campus

Guest rooms and flats in 170 Queen’s Gate on the South Kensington Campus are available on a nightly or weekly basis. Longer term rental options are also available for those needing accommodation for three months or more. For more information, visit the accommodation website.

Conference and event facilities

Are you looking for somewhere to hold your next reunion or meeting? As an alumnus, you are entitled to a 10% discount on room hire rates in Imperial’s conference facilities.

Conferences and meetings

Imperial has over 200 meeting rooms, lecture theatres and classrooms, most of which are centrally located on our main campus in South Kensington, with a few spaces also available at Charing Cross and Hammersmith campuses.

New facilities on the South Kensington campus include a contemporary conference suite in the Skempton Building which enjoys a state-of-the-art lecture theatre for up to 185 delegates and a choice of breakout classrooms which can be joined to create larger spaces and can be used as meeting or seminar rooms in their own right.

Weddings and celebrations

If you are looking for a venue for a private function or a wedding, you might like to consider Imperial’s two historic listed venues on the South Kensington campus - 58 Prince’s Gate and 170 Queen’s Gate. The latter has a wedding ceremony licence and can accommodate weddings for up to 70 people.

Catering

Imperial offers a variety of event catering menus to suit your timetable, taste and budget from working breakfasts and lunches to cocktail receptions and gala dinners. New menus are now available to download from the conferences and events website.

Evening classes

Evening classesThe Centre for Co-Curricular Studies offers a 20-week evening class programme in languages and arts appreciation running from October to March. Alumni are entitled to discounts on evening classes in a range of subjects including:

Courses run once a week, 18:15 - 20:15, and meet on the South Kensington campus. The Autumn-Spring programme runs for 20 weeks from October to March, and the Summer programme runs for 5 weeks from June.

Professional Development short courses

Professional Development coursesIn addition to its undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, the Centre for Continuing Professional Development presents a diverse range of cutting edge courses for professionals working in science, technology and medicine.

Alumni of Imperial College London are entitled to a 10% discount on all short courses.

Every year over 50 programmes are presented, given by leading authorities both from within and outside the College, which provide the most up-to-date developments in specific areas of interest. Most courses are of three to five days long and others are designed on a modular basis, extending over several months. The majority of courses are taught at the South Kensington campus. Modules from several Masters Programmes are made available as CPD short courses as an initiative to provide flexible education for full-time working professionals. Customised corporate courses can be arranged on request.

The Imperial College Business School's Summer School is open to undergraduates and postgraduates who are interested in developing fundamental business principles in a strategic context. Working professionals are also accepted if they have less than five year's work experience.
