Metallurgy and Material Science (1970 - 1986)
The Department of Metallurgy and Material Science at Imperial College London was established in 1970. It took the place of the Department of Metallurgy, which had been established in 1879 at the Royal School of Mines. In 1986 the Department was renamed the Department of Materials.
