Summer School students with a mentor

Safety and security

The safety of our Summer School students is of paramount importance to us:

  • All halls of residence have swipe card or fob entry, CCTV and 24-hour manned security offices.
  • A residential team of Pastoral Mentors provide round-the-clock support and supervision in halls of residences.
  • Key members of staff hold qualifications in child protection.
  • Summer School staff and mentors provide supervision on all organised trips and excursions.

Support and mentoring

All students on the Summer School will be supported by a comprehensive, fully trained staff team.

You will be allocated a mentor throughout the Summer School who will be a point of contact and support.

There will be lots of opportunities to ask questions and discuss thoughts in classes and seminars to make sure that you are able to get the most out of our academic programme.

You will also be chaperoned by mentors for all social activities, to ensure the safety and comfort of the whole group while exploring London and other parts of the UK.

The Summer School is a fantastic developmental opportunity and you will have the chance to make plenty of new friends. However, it is very normal for students to feel some homesickness whilst living away from home.

While most students find that homesickness is only temporary, mentors and staff members will be available at all times for you to discuss any worries or concerns you have.

Staying in touch with family and friends

We recommend that all students bring a mobile phone, appropriately insured, to the Summer School as this will be the most convenient way to stay in touch with family and friends at home.

Broadband internet is also available on campus for you to stay in touch via email and video calling.
