career planning

It can be hard to know what you’d like to do after you graduate. Not everyone wants to pursue employment in their field of study and not all degree programmes lead to specific careers after graduation. A degree at Imperial will however prepare you for a wide range of possibilities.

A good starting point for exploring your options is to check out what previous graduates have gone on to do - this information is collected from our graduates 15 months after they leave Imperial by the Graduate Outcomes survey (previously the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education Survey).

In addition many of our academic department websites have careers information and alumni profiles for example Department of Computing Career Prospects and many have password protected careers resources accessible only to Imperial students via Blackboard or other virtual learning environments specific to the academic area. In addition there are two national resources that may provide useful information to help you consider your options with your degree:

The Careers Service is currently updating our range of resources for this area of the website however subject specific careers information is available within the Careers Information Room (Level 5 Sherfield Building).
