Autumn term 2020-21
Courses will begin on schedule in Autumn and we look forward to seeing new and returning students in person, if travel and visa arrangements allow. If students can’t travel to campus in time for the start of term, the College has made plans to still provide them a high-quality remote educational experience during the Autumn term.
Teaching will be a combination of on-campus (in-person) and remote learning (online), known as 'multi-mode' delivery. The balance in the multi-mode offering may be subject to change. We will do our best to provide increased on-campus teaching and research activities as we progress throughout the year.
For more information about multi-mode delivery, the learning experience and the steps we’ll be taking to keep students safe on campus, please see our Covid-19 information for applicants and offer holders page.
We will update our course pages with further details once they are finalised.
The MRes courses available in the Institute of Chemical Biology are listed below. More information about each course and applying can be found through each link.
MRes Bioimaging Sciences
This multi-disciplinary course covers the fundamentals of modern imaging methodologies, including their techniques and application within medicine and the pharmaceutical industry. It also covers the chemistry behind imaging agents and biomarkers. The course will progress interdisciplinary development in imaging sciences and create a multidisciplinary team involving chemists, immunologists, radiologists, image scientists, physicists, biomedical scientists and computer scientists.
MRes Chemical Biology
This one year multidisciplinary MRes course fuses exciting professional and transferable skills courses, crafted and delivered in partnership with industry, with world class research. This includes an 8-month multidisciplinary research project, taught courses, practical laboratory experience of biomolecular techniques and industry-led innovation workshops. The research project provides physical scientists with the language, knowledge, and multi-disciplinary toolkit that is crucial to working across the physical-bio sciences divide.
MRes Drug Discovery and Development
This MRes programme is a one-year stand-alone course that will develop your expertise in multidisciplinary drug discovery research. It will also provide a deep understanding of the current global state of drug discovery together with radical insights into future directions from leaders in the field.
MRes Plant Chemical Biology
This multidisciplinary course will equip you with the skills to tackle the problems that lie at the interface between plant and physical science, on a molecular level. This course will enable you to bridge the gap that can exist between the physical and plant science disciplines due to differences in language, perspective and methodology.
