Values and culture
Our departmental values guide our behaviour, underpinning everything we do, and make us the unique, diverse and thriving environment we are.
We strongly value the dedication of the Chemical Engineering community in working together to fulfil our mission and are committed to developing a safe environment of wellbeing and productivity within which Departmental members develop personally and professionally.
Our departmental values, which were decided collectively by members of the department, are:

With these values in mind, it’s important to be clear that there are behaviours that we do not and will not accept in the department, and we have clear pathways in place both departmentally and across Imperial for reporting and support.
We do not accept microaggressions, bullying or harassment of any kind and are committed to taking the necessary action to eliminate all forms of discrimination – especially direct and indirect forms of harassment, bullying and victimisation, and those based on gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other of the protected characteristics outlined in the Equality Act 2010.
We expect all of our staff, students and visiting researchers to adhere to this with no exceptions.
