Upon successful completion of this module you will be able to: Recognise types of problem for which nonlinear structural analysis is necessary Distinguish between geometric and material nonlinearity Perform stability and buckling analysis using detailed and simplified methods Apply incremental iterative solution procedures for tracing equilibrium paths Demonstrate understanding of the fundamentals of nonlinear finite element discretisation Develop and apply 1D finite elements including geometric and material nonlinearity Apply time-integration schemes for nonlinear dynamic analysis Use advanced software for nonlinear static and dynamic analysis
