Focus on volunteering

Volunteers who work with the Imperial Volunteer Centre, could find themselves taking youngsters on a magical journey.

A children's interactive dance workshop from 12-16 August, in partnership with the Adrenalin Dance Company, involves a heady mix of dance, story telling, song, and craft, culminating in a 35 minute magical Fairy and Goblin dance performance for four to nine year olds.

Through the use of dance, play and creativity, the project aims to introduce children to key stages in the national curriculum in both natural sciences and dance. Wing making, a wand quest, fantastical interactive story telling and a fairy ring dance are just part of the programme.

The centre has 180 projects in its database, varying from art projects to environmental events. In May, it worked with the chaplaincy to coordinate Science Focus Week for local school children from the Into University Scheme at St Clements and St James Community Development Project.
