A Living Yearbook highlights student activities
THE range of activities and interests pursued by Imperial
students will be showcased in workshops, demonstrations and live
music on Saturday 12 June, writes Abigail Smith. The Festival of Sport, Culture and Community - A Living
Yearbook, has been organised by ICU and the Imperial Volunteer
Centre. Open to staff and students, as well as local residents,
activities taking place around College and Hyde Park, will include
martial arts, dance and frisbee techniques. An eco-friendly garden makeover by the Environmental Society and
a demonstration of dressage by horses on the Queen's Lawn will also
be on offer, together with musical, theatrical and cultural
performances. Activities aimed at younger visitors will include the
opportunity to ride in a fire engine. Richard Walker, deputy president, clubs and societies, Imperial
College Union, commented: "The festival will be a really fun day
but more than that, it is an opportunity for our students to
express themselves outside their academic lives, while giving
something back to the community they live in. It is a testament to
their talent, commitment and vision." The day will begin at 11.00 at the South Kensington campus. For information contact Robin Pitt, student services manager, on
