Bright future beckons for Imperial postgraduates

Monday 23 May 2005

Over 1,000 graduates celebrated their achievements at Imperial's Postgraduate Awards Ceremony in the Royal Albert Hall last week, using the occasion to look back at what the College gave them in a short video.

Students from all disciplines across the College gathered in the Royal Albert Hall on 18 May to receive their qualifications from Imperial's Chairman, Lord Kerr.

Welcoming them, Rector Sir Richard Sykes commented: "There can be few occasions when so much talent, so many trained minds and so much potential come together in one place.

"Imperial graduates, as I hope some of you are already finding out, are highly valued by employers, both for the academic content of their degrees and for the essential leadership and management skills which we try to build into each programme.

"You can be absolutely confident that the Imperial degree to which you'll be admitted today is indeed a valuable asset, and one which you'll treasure all your lives."

Also present at the ceremony were businessman and philanthropist Hans Rausing and leading epidemiology and public health expert Haile Debas, who both received honorary science doctorates.
