The COMAC Beijing Aircraft Technology Research Institute (BATRI) - Imperial College London research collaboration aims to design innovative commercial aircraft wings. 

The research centre, which is jointly supported by the Department of Aeronautics and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, is focussed on manufacturing, performance and application of lightweight materials, including composites.

The ultimate aim for COMAC, and other aircraft manufacturers, will be to pilot more effective wing design solutions for commercial manned aircraft.
