[04/12/14] SK was presented as a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) for his ``exceptional contributions to the physics enterprise'' at the annual Division of Fluid Dynamics conference of the APS-DFD in San Francisco, USA (23-25 Nov 2014). The honour was given specifically ``For pioneering and rigorous contributions to fundamental fluid dynamics, particularly interfacial flows and dynamics of moving contact lines, statistical mechanics of inhomogeneous liquids, and coarse graining of complex multiscale systems''. [07/10/14] Congratulations to group member Sebastian Krumscheid, who successfully defended his doctoral thesis in his PhD viva examination recently. Sebastian's internal and external examiners were Dr Almut Veraat (IC, Maths) and Prof Sebastian Reich (Institut für Mathematik, Universität Potsdam, Germany), respectively. Sebastian has now started a post-doctoral position at the Department of Mathematics of EPFL from Nov 2014.

[19/02/14] Congratulations to group members Rajagopal Vellingiri and Petr Yatsyshin, who both successfully defended their respective doctoral theses in their PhD viva examinations recently. For Raj's viva the internal and external examiners were Demetrios Papageo rgiou (IC, Maths) and Uwe Thiele (Loughborough, Maths); for Petr's viva they were Andy Parry (IC, Maths) and Bob Evans (Bristol, Physics)
