Communications session taking placeThe Clinical Communication programme relies on volunteer patients to help with skills training.  We need volunteers who are happy to talk with first-year medical students to help them develop their communications skills.

What would being a volunteer involve?

You would be invited to attend a session where you would be interviewed by numerous year 1 medical students to talk about a past- or ongoing health issue and give feedback on how they communicated.

How long will it last?

The whole session is four hours long, but you will not be expected to talk for four hours. Each interview will last for five minutes and after some of these interviews, there will be a break.

What should I expect on the day?

On the day, you will arrive at the Alexander Fleming Building at the College’s main campus in South Kensington. You will be directed to the venue of the session where you will be greeted by the session organisers. Just before the start of the session you will be briefed by the organisers who will explain how the session will run and be able to answer any questions you have.

When does it take place?

Normally this session takes place at the beginning of December each year.
