The Energy Storage Research Network (ESRN) brings together researchers from academic, industrial and policy domains with an interest in energy storage and its application to future low carbon energy systems.

ESRN is funded by EPSRC through the RCUK Energy Programme. It received £490,000 funding to run for three and a half years, beginning 1 October 2012 with a projected end date of 31 March 2016 (Grant number: EP/J021695/1).

The network was proposed by Energy Futures Lab alongside Imperial's Department of Earth Science and Engineering and EDF Energy. The Energy Storage Coordinator post is based in the Energy Futures Lab office.
