Management Team

Professor Tim Green - Co-Director

Professor Tim GreenTim is Professor of Electrical Power Engineering and received a BSc (Eng) from Imperial College London and a PhD from Heriot-Watt University both in Electrical Engineering. Tim’s research interest is in formulating the future form of the electricity network to support low carbon futures. A particular theme is how the flexibility of power electronics and control systems can be used to accommodate new generation patterns and new types of load, such as EV charging, as part of the emerging smart grid. He also has interests in offshore DC networks and of management of low voltage networks. Tim leads the HubNet Supergen consortium of 8 UK universities coordinating research in low carbon energy networks and is the Network Champion for the Research Councils UK. He also teaches on the Energy Transmission and Systems course of the MSc in Sustainable Energy Futures.

Professor Anna Korre - Co-Director

Professor Anna KorreAnna is Professor of Environmental Engineering in the Department of Earth Science & Engineering. Her research focus is in the areas of modelling risk and uncertainty and the environmental and life cycle assessment of engineering systems. She has led and participated in numerous industry, Research Council and EU funded projects developing engineering tools to assess the impacts of the minerals and energy industries in terms of operational performance, environmental footprint and cost. She also teaches on the Methods for the Analysis of Energy Systems course of the MSc in Sustainable Energy Futures.

Dr Richard Carmichael - Research Fellow, Demand Side response

Dr Richard CarmichaelRichard is responsible for the Energy Futures Lab Briefing Paper on consumer and prosumer engagement with Demand Side Response, smart tariffs, distributed generation and community renewables.
