Zhaoyu HuHi! My name is Zhaoyu, from Beijing, China, I am currently a Master student in Advanced Materials in Sustainable Infrastructure. I have finished my bachelor’s degree in Wuhan, majoring Energy and Power Engineering. I love football, swimming and many kinds of sports.

Why did you choose to do your MSc with us?
I learned that many courses of Advanced Materials for Sustainable Infrastructure are project-based, which is in line with my pursuit in practical learning. In addition, many interesting project options on dissertation part engage me a lot.

What do you enjoy most about studying in the Department?
I love all the group works. These experiences not only increased my knowledge but also gave me a chance to make friends. Group works gave me more sense of achievement than individual works. It also improved my communication skills which I believe will help me a lot in the future.

What have the highlights been so far?
The people I met at Imperial are all incredible. The professors, lectures are always the best in their respective fields. Graduate students are very friendly, you will definitely have a bunch of friends. Never feel lonely in a foreign country.

What are you hoping to do after your studies?
I hope to work as a civil engineering consultant. With the accumulation of knowledge and skills at Imperial, I firmly believe that I will achieve my career goals, serve the community after I graduated.

What advice would you give someone considering doing an MSc with us?
The most important thing is to make sure you are interested in your MSc program. We all know that Imperial College is a world-class university. Every course here may be challenging and you need to try your best. If you are not interested you will find it very difficult.The second advice is don't put too much pressure on yourself. Relax sometimes, go to gym and travel around the wonderful city. So, enjoy the journey!
