Innovation for Health and Ageing

From high-tech innovations for disability, to medical devices for chronic illness, and technologies for psychological health, much of the research we do is dedicated to advancing health and wellbeing for people of all ages.

Advancing quality of life is increasingly important as life expectancy is predicted to increase by 7 years in Europe by 2060.  Therefore, the number of people aged 65+ is projected to increase from 27.8% to 50.1% (relative to those aged 15-64).  These trends are issues not unique to the UK and Europe but concern all continents, and they can be seen as opportunities to lead in the design of technologies that support thriving throughout the lifespan.   Some of our research in this area is listed below.
