We undertake the strategic and operational management and development of estates and property cross-College in the core Estate, taking responsibility for inter alia the commercial, lease advisory, planning policy, rating and legal matters relating to property and land.
Our Space management team maintain a College Asset Register, which is is a comprehensive list of all the buildings on each campus including dimensions and summary tenure details.
Performance monitoring - key performance indicators used annually to compare the performance of buildings, campuses and the estate as a whole with peer institutions.
Each year the College takes part in an Estates Management Records survey. This information is used to demonstrate performance. The survey helps UK Higher Education Institutions to:
- Improve strategy and decision making.
- Monitor and enhance performance.
- Demonstrate added value.
- Communicate across the HE sector.
Planning - monitoring national and local government policies which will affect College buildings.
Planning permission, listed buildings, conservation areas etc - Planning permissions and licences guidance (pdf) on when planning consent will be required or compliance with building regulations necessary.
Legal Issues - ensuring the College’s interests are protected in day to day real estate transactions, landlord and tenant issues, dilapidations, acquisitions and disposals.
Neighbours - managing relations with all campus neighbours from a real estate perspective.
Valuations - collating valuations of the College’s real estate interests.
