Title

Interior controllability of wave equations via Carleman estimates

Abstract

A PDE system is called controllable if we can drive its solution from a given initial state to a chosen final state, using a suitable control function. One of the techniques for showing controllability is to use Carleman estimates, which are used for proving unique continuation results. In this talk, we will present a novel Carleman estimate for wave-type operators in (m, n) space-time dimension. A special case of this estimate will then be used to show improved interior controllability results for the n-dimensional wave equation with lower order terms.
