Wikipedia – the world’s largest online encyclopedia – overwhelmingly recognises the achievements of white men.

This event is your chance to help change that by learning how to become a Wikipedia author and editor then putting that knowledge into practice straight away to start chronicling the achievements of LGBTQ+ people on this online platform.

This practical session will be led by Imperial’s very own Jess Wade and her colleague Maryam Zaringhalam, a DC-based biologist who now works in science policy, advocacy, and communication.

Jess has been on a one-woman mission for several years to record the scientific contributions of women and other under-represented communities by creating new Wikipedia entries nightly. To date, she’s written over 1,000 articles!

You’ll also get to hear more about the importance of LGBTQ+ visibility from our special guest speaker, Oxford University’s Dr Clara Barker, who will introduce the event.

Help us get a head start at this event by using this Qualtrics form to nominate LGBTQ+ people who you believe deserve a Wikipedia entry.
