Title

A Survey of Methods used in Reconstruction from Automorphism Groups

Abstract

This talk is intended to be an introductory overview of reconstruction from automorphism groups. How much of a theory is definable in the automorphism group of one of its models? If two first order models share the same automorphism group, what can that tell us about the relationship between the two models? I intend to run though some of the results and methods of this subject, discussing work by Ahlbrandt and Ziegler, Rubin, Shelah, and Truss. If time permits, I will also talk about the problem of reconstruction from larger algebras, such as self-embedding monoids and polymorphism clones.
