Futures research, forecasting and scenario planning is an influential field which has attracted increasing research attention and critical thinking in recent decades. This seminar will summarise the field, providing distinctive case studies on how it could be evaluated and enhanced. First, we’ll examine the historical development of futures thinking to date and examine a recent case study of forecast evaluation. Next, we’ll engage in futures research ourselves by employing tools that draw on attendees’ own experience and knowledge. We aim to provide a stimulating and interactive seminar which provides insights into different means of thinking about the future.
