We are dedicating this College Evensong as a Celebration and Thanksgiving for the life and ministry of Desmond Tutu, anti-apartheid campaigner, LGBTQ+ champion, who worked for an inclusive Church.

During the service, there will be a short personal reflection by Rev’d Andy Marshall, Chaplain to the Royal Veterinary College, who was ordained priest in South Africa.

Music for the Service

The opening Anthem is ‘Hear my prayer O Lord’ by Moses Hogan (1957-2003).

The Verses and Responses are by Thomas Ebdon (1738–1811).

The musical setting for the Psalm is by Maria Portela (a current student at Imperial College).

The tunes for the Canticles, the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, are in E Flat Major by  Charles Wood (1866-1926). Wood was in the first cohort of students at the Royal College of Music and later a teacher there.

The closing Anthem is ‘Lord, Thou hast been our refuge’ by Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872 1958).
