This event is co-hosted by the Institute of Infection and the Royal Society and funded via the Policy Support Fund. The workshop will bring together scientists, policy experts, government advisers, and media to discuss the insights gained during the pandemic about the current system of science advice to policymakers.

This will be a hybrid meeting, with an option to attend in person at the Royal Society (London, SW1Y 5AG) or online.

We have an exciting line up of speakers including:

  • From Imperial: Professors Wendy Barclay, Neil Ferguson, Peter Openshaw, Amanda Wolthuizen, Christl Donnelly
  • External: Professor Dame Sally Davies (University of Cambridge), Dr Rupert Lewis (Royal Society), Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter (University of Cambridge), Fiona Lethbridge (Science Media Centre), Sir John Bell (University of Oxford)

Presentations will be followed by an open discussion, and the day will end with a drinks reception.

The event is open to anyone interested in infection research at Imperial College and we encourage researchers from all career stages to join us, including PhD students/postdocs, etc. We particularly hope that early career researchers will be equipped, empowered and validated to participate in critical policy-related discussions.
