Frequently asked questions about making a gift

How can I make a one-off donation?

You can make a single, one-off donation securely on our website and can choose to pay using a debit or credit card. If you'd like to make a donation by post using cheque, charity voucher, or credit or debit card, please download a donation form

How can I set up a regular gift?

You can set up a Direct Debit on our website, or by printing and returning a donation form to us in the post. You can choose what amount to donate, and whether to give monthly or annually. 

Can you claim Gift Aid on my donation?

If you are a UK taxpayer Imperial can reclaim the tax you have paid on every donation you make. For every £1 you give we can claim up to 25p back from the HM Revenue & Customs at no extra cost to you. To claim Gift Aid on your donation, we need your permission.  There are three ways to give us permission to claim Gift Aid on your donation:

  1. Sign the Gift Aid declaration on the donation form when you make a donation
  2. Call +44 (0)20 7594 6149 to give permission over the phone
  3. Fill in a Gift Aid declaration form and send it by post. Download the Gift Aid Form

Can I make a tax-efficient gift from overseas?

Yes, there are special tax breaks or benefits available for donors living in the US, Canada and Europe. US taxpayers can give in a tax-efficient way by making a gift to the Imperial College Foundation, a US tax exempt organisation. Find out more about tax-efficient giving from overseas at Imperial.

How do I make a corporate matched gift to the College?

Imperial accepts matched-giving donations from many major companies. To find out whether your company runs a matched giving scheme and what the details of the scheme are, contact your HR department. Find out more about corporate matched giving at Imperial.

Do Imperial have a salary sacrifice scheme for staff?

Imperial employees can choose to enter into a salary sacrifice arrangement and forego a portion of their salary to financially support the College’s fundraising priorities. This is often a more tax-efficient way of supporting Imperial than making a conventional donation. Please note a salary sacrifice can only be used to support the College’s unrestricted fund. Can I make a gift in my will to Imperial College London?

We accept legacy gifts to Imperial and are grateful to all donors who choose to give in this way. Can I register as a donor to leave my body to medical research?

You can choose to register as a body donor, or tissue donor in order to advance research and understanding of health and disease in the human body. How can I make a gift using a CAF charity voucher?

When donating to the College using a CAF charity voucher please add include ‘Imperial College London’ as the charity name and send it to the Gift Accounting Team by post:
