Sadly due to COVID-19, we were unable to deliver graduation ceremonies for our Postgraduates in May, and it has now become clear that we will not able to deliver the ceremonies for our graduands in October either. The College recognises how very disappointing this is and that alternative arrangements to celebrate our students’ achievements are of the utmost importance. Graduands are being contacted directly to inform them of the College’s decision.
Alternative arrangements for celebrating graduation are being considered. In recent weeks, colleagues in Advancement have been developing options for how we can celebrate graduation during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recent days they have sought input from Heads of Department and from student representatives. The next step is for the proposals to be shared with graduands by means of a survey and focus groups in order to ensure that the graduation celebrations that College and departments organise meet the expectations of our graduands during this unique and unfortunate situation.
Students should expect to hear from the College by email in the coming days. We hope that students will engage with the survey and express their preferences so that we can celebrate their graduation appropriately within the limits that the pandemic measures dictate.
We have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions and answers about graduation 2020. We will continue to update them as plans evolve.
