Wider Partner Network
Engagement opportunities with the SSP DTP
Partners are able to showcase their work in specific areas of interest, influence the students’ learning and understanding of these areas, engage them directly in exploring the importance of these areas, and encourage students’ interest in their organisation and possible career opportunities.
Partner engagement can take the form of:
- 2-8 week short-term placements.
- 3-6 month full-time secondments.
- 3.5 year studentship co-supervision, tackling a longer-term research objective.
- Input into the essential skills training modules.
- Speaking as part of the Grantham seminar series.
- Organising workshops and enterprise activities.

Engagement opportunities with the wider college network
In its role as a hub for environmental research, the SSCP DTP is hosting a series of ideas sandpits, each focusing on a challenge area that will bring together multiple stakeholders from across business and policy, as well as academics in a variety of departments and disciplines. These are brainstorming sessions to identify the opportunities, risks, barriers and actions around specific environmental challenges. Topics can be put forward from any area at any time.
The expectation is that opportunities for secondments, co-supervised PhDs, training and seminars/lectures are identified. It may be that certain areas of discussion warrant further analysis, leading to more focused workshops and new collaborative research / pilot studies beyond the doctoral and masters programmes.
