Since 2012, the Grantham Institute has been working with China’s Energy Research Institute (ERI) and the NDRC on this joint project on the role of China in global energy governance.

The existing global energy governance framework was established in the 1970s. But with the increasing importance of emerging economies in the global energy landscape, it is no longer fit for purpose.

The project team, led by Neil Hirst from the Grantham Institute and Yang Yufeng from ERI, have produced this consultation report setting out the challenges of global energy policy and their recommendations for improving cooperation.
