Can I take an Imperial Horizons course for credit?

Imperial Horizons courses fall into three credit categories: -

Degree Credit
Many departments allow you to take an Imperial Horizons course for 'degree credit' instead of taking one of your departmental options. These courses are often referred to as ancillaries or elective modules.  All two-term Imperial Horizons courses may be taken for 'degree credit' where your department allows it.  In the charts below you will find a list of allowable options by department. These charts are accurate to the best of our knowledge, but the final decision on 'degree credit' options rests with your department. If you have any queries regarding your options, please contact your departmental administrator. Two-term courses are worth 6 ECTS points and your final mark will appear on your transcript. Please note that you may be required to pass your Imperial Horizons course to pass your year.

Extra Credit
If you do not take your two-term Imperial Horizons course for 'degree credit', the 6 ECTS will be awarded as 'extra credit' on successful completion of the course. 'Pass', 'Merit' or 'Distinction' will appear on your transcript. 'Fails' are not recorded if you are taking the course for extra credit.

Non Credit
All 8 week courses for first years are available to study for non-credit only. No ECTS points will be awarded. 'Pass', 'Merit' or 'Distinction' will appear on your transcript. 'Fails' will not be recorded for non-credit students.

Please note that the charts below only show the years of study in which you are allowed to take a course for 'degree credit'. You may take a course for 'extra credit' or 'non credit' each year you are studying as an undergraduate at Imperial College.
