Learning and Teaching job family - Briefing for staff

This page sets out guidance for staff who may require further information regarding opportunities for promotion within or transfer to the revised Learning and Teaching job family.

Many of the new career development opportunities are applicable from June 2018. The structure detailed below is linked to the College’s Learning and Teaching Strategy. The Strategy aims to establish a culture that values teaching as highly as research and to establish new ways for students to contribute to the educational experience.

Staff may follow two paths, one which follows the Academic Promotions guidance and one which follows the Learning and Teaching Promotions guidance below.

August 2018:

Deadline for submission of paperwork: 20 August

Outcomes communicated: end of September

Promotions take effect: 1 October 2018

 

November 2018:

Deadline for submission of paperwork: 16 November

Outcomes communicated: end of December

Promotions take effect: 1 January 2019

 

April 2019:

Deadline for submission of paperwork: 26 April

Outcomes communicated: end of May

Promotions take effect: 1 June 2019

The Learning and Teaching Job Family also includes three Academic roles: Associate Professor of Education (Level D), Reader in Education (Level D) and Professor of Education (Level E).  Full information on criteria and how to apply for promotion may be found on the Academic Promotions' webpage.

The first deadline for applications will be Monday, 20 August 2018.  Later deadlines will be published here.  The first promotions panel will meet in September 2018, with promotions taking effect on 1 October 2018.

Two briefing sessions for staff will be taking place and staff are encouraged to attend to find out more. The sessions will also be recorded for those not able to attend.
