During your time at University, you will always be involved in organising your work and planning will be required to enable you to balance your academic and social life.
Other tests of your planning and organisational skills can be found through membership of clubs and societies - particularly if you become a committee member and involve yourself in planning events and trips. The Students' Union website is probably the best place to start if you want to find out more information about the clubs and societies that Imperial College offers.
Voluntary work and charity projects will often provide you with the chance to plan the activities of others and improve your leadership skills. Community and teaching projects offer the same opportunities. Look in your local newspaper for summer projects aimed at school or 6th form students as these often advertise for people to act as team-leaders, and some offer one week management training courses to get you started.
It may also be worth checking at your local Citizen’s Advice Bureau, to see if there are other community and Voluntary projects going on in your area, or taking a look at the following websites:
