Centre for Molecular Immunology and Inflammation
Exploring key molecular pathways in autoimmunity, inflammation and cancer
The Centre for Molecular Immunology and Inflammation studies the key molecular pathways that drive and regulate autoimmune/inflammatory diseases and cancer. This research utilises a broad range of approaches, including genetic screens, biochemical analysis of signalling pathways, biophysical and structural analyses, ‘omics’ technologies and drug discovery. Conditional genetic models and patient investigations are used to dissect the function of the molecular pathways studied in autoimmunity and cancer. The overarching goal is to develop new therapies through increased mechanistic understanding at the molecular level.
Key research areas include haematological and solid cancers, psoriasis and inflammatory bowel disease.
Funding sources have included the Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK, Bloodwise, British Heart Foundation, National Psoriasis Foundation, the National Institutes of Health and the NIHR Imperial BRC.
