The Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (ITMAT) is part of the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre and built on a number of core technology resources across Imperial College London and the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The ITMAT Data Science Group is one of the core technology resources.

The ITMAT Data Science group, created in April 2015, is chaired by Professor Robert Glen and co-led by Dr Elsa Angelini. This talent pool is composed of six expert scientists who cover the areas of imaging, genomics, bioinformatics, statistics and software engineering.

The focus of the group is to enable biomedical scientific discovery through advanced applications of computational methods, development of novel algorithms and software, curation and sharing of analytical pipelines and data, and maintenance of existing software tools. The group has expertise in state of the art data analytics and in the use of HPC at Imperial. Productivity and Sustainability in clinical data analysis to enable rapid translation is the key goal of the group.
