Job summary

Imperial College Union needs an energetic sales and business development professional to manage our annual income budget of over £100, 000. You will work autonomously on managing our advertising sales, developing relationships with graduate recruiters, and seeking sponsorship opportunities for our events and activities. You will leverage our brand as a membership organisation comprising some of the best minds in the world and build enduring partnerships with corporate partners, other charities, College departments, and the world’s biggest brands. 

You will be responsible for the development and performance of external sales activities in the Student Voice & Communications directorate, working proactively to meet our income objectives, and establishing plans and strategies to expand the customer base.

You’ll have had at least 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, enjoy working autonomously and be driven by results.

Duties and responsibilities

As Sales & Sponsorship Manager, you will:

 

  • Manage our advertising, careers, and sponsorship budget ensuring monthly and annual targets are met
  • Pro-actively sell all advertising opportunities including email, social media, web banners, on-site stalls, spaces, newspaper adverts, ambient media and other channels.
  • Identify viable opportunities for sponsorship and proactively seeking brand partners for events and activities

  • Manage logistics, administration and sale of stalls for our biggest events including Welcome Fair, New Year Fair and Summer Ball.

  • Seek new ways to diversify our income, developing new business as necessary and building sustainable partnerships.

Essential requirements


  • Experience generating income through sales and partnerships

  • Experience working in a busy service oriented environment

  • Experience of budget management (income and expenditure) and financial processes

  • Aptitude to generate new ideas, develop them into successful initiatives and seeing them through to their conclusion.

  • Experience of building and retaining long term relationships with local, national and/or international companies

  • Experience of conducting, analysing and reporting market research

  • Experience of organising an coordinating events from start to finish
