This intensive one day cadaveric course will focus on medial, lateral and patellofemoral compartmental knee arthroplasty including combined partial procedures. Aimed at senior registrars, post-CCT fellows and consultants, places are limited to just 20 delegates to maximise hands-on operating experience and small group interaction.

Summary of the table's contents

Course Objectives:

-          To understand the role of partial, bi-unicondylar and bi-copartmental knee arthroplasty

-          Learn technical aspects of partial knee arthroplasty using fresh cadaveric specimens

-          Critically appraise the evidence regarding TKR Vs UKR Vs Combined Partial Arthroplasty

-          UK’s only lateral UKR and PFJ technical course

 

Topics and Themes:

-          Cadaveric Workshop:

-          Two delegates per specimen

-          Surgical Approaches

-          Each delegate will implant a minimum of one compartment: Medial, Lateral, PFJ

-          Saw-Bone Practical Sessions including patient specific instrumentation

-          Expert Lectures

-          Basic Science

-          Indications for bi-compartmental and bi-unicondylar surgery

-          Registry Outcomes Vs PROMS: How to avoid outlier status, whilst doing a good job

-          Picking winners and avoiding early failure

-          Video-assisted technical tips: how to merge the compartments successfully

-          Small group sessions:

-          Gait Analysis and Outcome Metrics:

-          Objective measure of outcome

-          Comparing different arthroplasty procedures

-          Surgical Planning: CT Vs Plain Radiographs

-          PSI, Robots and Augmented Reality: what level of assistance do you want or need?

-          The role of osteotomy
