The College's new Teaching and Learning Strategy encourages the use of more active learning techniques in our teaching. This challenge was run from July to September 2018 to highlight examples of active learning techniques already being used in teaching across the Faculty. A summary of all of the examples of active learning that were submitted to the Challenge is available on the Showcase Event web page.

There were a number of ways that staff could be involved:

1. Reviewing Panopto recordings of their teaching. This could include lecture recordings, specially recorded video or any other teaching/learning videos they had made.

2. Identifying an example of active learning practice they would like to share and then making a new video showcasing their active learning technique. They could use Panopto editing facilities to prepare their video clip and help was available from the FoNS AV Support Team and the FoNS Learning Technology Team (and a number of drop-in help sessions were held during August).

3. Attend the Active Learning Challenge Showcase Event to hear more about active learning practices and discuss techniques with other teaching staff.

4. View all the active learning video clips online and consider whether they could use any of these in their own teaching.
